DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Five different players notched wins in both singles and doubles play to lead Bentley to a 9-0 non-league college men’s tennis dual-match triumph over UMass Dartmouth in the season opener for both teams Thursday afternoon on the UMD Courts.
Senior Kendall Au (Essex Falls, N.J.), junior Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y.) and freshmen Jordan Soifer (Stamford, Conn.), Tawan Rattaseri (Bangkok, Thailand) and Pedro Diavan (Cuiaba, Brazil) posted straight set singles wins on the day for the visiting Falcons (1-0), who also received a straight set victory at number four singles from sophomore Alexander Novins (Wellesley, Mass.).
Weitz and junior Connor Aulson (Groveland, Mass.) teamed up for an 8-1 triumph at the top doubles spot for Bentley, which received respective 8-2 and 8-0 wins at the final two spots from the tandems of Au/Soifer and Rattaseri/Diavan.
UMass Dartmouth (0-1) heads to Springfield, Mass. on Tuesday, October 1st for a non-league dual-match with Western New England beginning at 3:30 pm, while Bentley travels to Quincy, Mass. on Monday afternoon for a non-conference clash with Eastern Nazarene that also begins at 3:30 pm.
