DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The UMass Dartmouth women’s tennis team swept a 9-0 non-league dual-match decision from Curry on Monday afternoon in a contest played on the UMD Courts.
Senior Jenna Lahaie (Lakeville, Mass.), juniors Jaime Fastino (Rehoboth, Mass.), Monika Reining (Linsengericht, Germany) and Melanie Wong (Somerset, Mass.), along with sophomores Michelle and Rachel Aftandilian (Watertown, Mass.) all triumphed in straight sets in singles play on the day for the host Corsairs (2-2), who dropped a total of 13 games in singles action. Lahaie and Fastino teamed up for an 8-1 win at number one doubles for UMass Dartmouth, which received an 8-3 triumph at the number two position from Reining and Rachel Aftandilian along with an 8-1 victory at the number three spot from Michelle Aftandilian and sophomore Jordan Martin (Taunton, Mass.).
The visiting Colonels fall to 0-4 overall with the setback.
UMass Dartmouth heads to West Hartford, Conn. on Tuesday afternoon to take on Saint Joseph (Conn.) in a non-league dual-match beginning at 4:00 pm, while Curry hosts Western New England in a Commonwealth Coast Conference clash in Milton, Mass. Tuesday afternoon that begins at 3:30 pm.
