LEICESTER, Mass. -- Senior Nicole Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) recorded 22 kills and 19 digs to lead UMass Dartmouth to a sweep of a non-league college volleyball tri-match from host Becker and Fisher by identical 3-0 finals Saturday afternoon at Leicester Gymnasium.
Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) and junior Alivia Connors (Derry, N.H.) each notched 10 kills and combined for six digs in the opening 25-15, 25-23, 25-20 triumph for the visiting Corsairs (3-6) over the host Hawks (6-5), while sophomore Emma Aillet (Deer Park, Tex.) added eight kills, three digs and a pair of block assists. Senior Jordan Rittberger (Huntington, N.Y.) and junior Riley Thomas (Fairhaven, Mass.) combined for 24 set assists for UMass Dartmouth, which received three kills from sophomore Mallory Singer (Succasunna, N.J.) and a combined 14 digs from senior Jillian Sykora (Waterford, Conn.) and freshman Courtney Carreiro (Dartmouth, Mass.).
Silverman collected eight kills, 14 digs and six service aces in the Corsairs’ 25-9, 25-14, 25-10 nightcap victory over Fisher (1-7), while Connors chipped in with seven kills and three digs. Singer added six kills for UMass Dartmouth, which received five kills service aces from Aillet, 12 digs from Sykora and a combined 21 set assists and three digs from Thomas and Rittberger.
UMass Dartmouth travels to Babson Park, Mass. on Wednesday evening for a non-league match with 21st-ranked Babson beginning at 6:30 pm, while Becker hosts Rhode Island College in a non-conference clash on Tuesday evening at Leicester Gymnasium that begins at 7:00 pm. Fisher heads to Milton, Mass. on Monday evening to square off with Curry in a non-league contest beginning at 6:00 pm.
