DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Sophomore Margarita Perez-Maza (Guaynabo, P.R.) notched 18 kills to lead Clark to a 3-1 non-league college volleyball victory over UMass Dartmouth by game scores of 25-20, 22-25, 25-15 and 25-22 in a match played Tuesday evening at the Tripp Athletic Center.
Freshman Cameron Gill (Shrewsbury, Mass.) added 17 kills and three digs for the visiting Cougars (4-5), who received seven kills from sophomore Mackenzie Hanna (Lamoine, Maine). Junior Sophia Torino (Los Angeles, Calif.) chipped in with 37 set assists, 12 digs and six kills for Clark, which received five kills and three digs from sophomore Paige Kacherian (Rowley, Mass.) along with 23 digs and eight set assists from sophomore Marimo Oka (Fukuoka, Japan) as well as a combined 16 digs from sophomore Bailey Vogel (Salt Lake City, Utah) and freshman Claire Baker (Seattle, Wash.).
Senior Nicole Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) matched Perez-Maza’s mark with 18 kills, nine digs and two service aces in the setback for the host Corsairs (0-3), who received 11 kills and four digs from sophomore Mallory Singer (Succasunna, N.J.) along with eight kills from junior Alivia Connors (Derry, N.H.). Freshman Emma Spach (Billerica, Mass.) collected four kills and a pair of digs for UMass Dartmouth, which received 25 set assists and five digs from freshman Courtney Carreiro (Dartmouth, Mass.). Senior Jillian Sykora (Waterford, Conn.) notched 24 digs for the hosts, who received 15 set assists from senior Jordan Rittberger (Huntington, N.Y.) and 13 digs from senior Meghan Mullinax (Lake Balboa, Calif.).
UMass Dartmouth hosts Wellesley in a non-league match on Wednesday evening at the Tripp Athletic Center beginning at 7:00 pm, while Clark entertains Amherst in a non-league outing on Friday evening in Worcester, Mass. that begins at 6:00 pm.
